The machine is designed to run short lengths of web (25 to 50 Feet) at low speed (0 to 20 FPM). The low speed facilitates study and photography. Typical web widths are 6 to 8 inches. Materials can range from 30 mil latex to very thin films.

Rollers are aluminum with a urethane coating, 3 inches in diameter and 10 inch face length. Bearing shields and seals have been removed to minimize friction.

The web is driven with a constant velocity (adjustable) pull roller at the exit end.

Tension is controlled (0 to 6 Lb) with a precision hysteresis brake on the first roller at the entry end.

Lateral edge position is controlled with an unwind guiding system.
